David Tudehope is Chief Executive and founder of successful Australian telecom and IT company, Macquarie Telecom. He has guided the company’s development to become a fully integrated publicly listed carrier; supplying voice, mobile, data networks, managed hosting and cloud computing solutions to business and government users in Australia, New Zealand and Asia

Over the last two decades, David has championed telecommunications regulatory issues and strived for more competitive outcomes to benefit Australian customers.

Under David’s leadership, Macquarie Telecom has won both Australian and International awards; including the prestigious International Telecommunications Company of the Year – Business Services at the ComNet Expo in Washington DC in 2000, the Austrade-Austcham Export Award (Business Services) in 2002 and Frost and Sullivan’s Asia Pacific Customer Focused Leadership Award in 2008. In 2008, Macquarie Telecom was judged the Best Telco in the World for Customer Care at the World Communication Awards in London.

In 2010, David received the Charles Todd Medal, his Industry Association’s top award, for contributions to the Australian Telecommunications Industry.

Most recently, David has been actively advocating the participation of Australia as a global leader in the next wave of the IT transformation of business, and the contribution Australia can make, particularly through the integration and use of cloud computing by the business community.

In 2012, David was also appointed as an Australian representative of the B20 organising Committee for 2014 and attended the B20 in St Petersburg in June 2013. He was also a business representative on the COAG Business Advisory Council in 2012.

David is a Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce and has had a long relationship with the US and European IT and telecom industry. Over the last 15 years, he has also developed a strong network of business and personal relationships throughout the Australasian region.

David has held a number of positions within industry bodies and has also been a member of the IT and the Arts Information Economy Advisory Council under previous Federal Communication Ministers. In 2003, Macquarie Telecom received the “Promotion of Competition” award for the telecommunications industry from the peak industry association, SPAN.

In 2007 David also completed the Senior Executive stream of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program (AMP). David completed a Bachelor of Commerce at University of NSW and continues his association as a member of the University’s Australian Business School Advisory Council.

David resides in Sydney and is married with 3 children.
